Issue:¬† Ammon Labs conducted their benefits enrollments process entirely via paper and did not¬†have an effective means to educate employees about what they were enrolled in or what those benefits covered.¬†During a period of rapid growth, (from 30 to 250 employees expansion¬†in a couple years) the need for¬†an online solution to help close gaps¬†to service their employees when it came to their benefits was evident. Ammon Lab’s small HR team was focused on growing the business but was mired in manual paperwork and processes when it came to benefits.

Solution:  Ammon Labs was partnered with a benefits marketplace technology solution for their annual Open Enrollment. Their tech-savvy employees easily adapted to the new enrollment process, and for the HR team, it helped to alleviate issues they’d seen in the past, such as illegible handwriting on forms resulting in incorrect enrollments.

Brown & Brown Benefit Advisors conducted onsite benefit education sessions, demonstrating the portal to employees on how to enroll, and where to find more information about each benefit.  The secure, online portal also enabled them to enroll in the convenience of their own homes. Employees could easily see what benefits they needed to act on (either enroll or waive coverage) and see details about those benefits they wanted to learn more about.

Results:  The favorable participation requirements of the voluntary benefits on the portal enabled Ammon Labs to enroll employees in new benefits such as Short-Term Disability, Critical Illness, and Hospital Indemnity. They also saw huge increases in participation in their core benefits.

  • Medical enrollment increased by 38%
  • Dental enrollment increased by 58%
  • Vision enrollment tripled – increasing by 75%
